SAVINGS BY DESIGN offers assistance to make buildings more energy-efficient, organized around two alternative approaches to energy efficiency:

• Whole Building Approach - Used for projects where the design team can work closely to integrate the building's energy systems. It produces the most energy-efficient and cost-effective buildings.
  
• Systems Approach - Used for projects where design of energy systems is done at different phases, or where one energy system predominates.
